Summary: Simply Love it

Comment: I started out with a over the shoulder bag when I had the Canon Rebel Xti. Over the past year I have not only added extra gear but changed cameras, now have the Canon 40D with the battery grip. With all my camera gear and accessories I was out growing my bag pretty fast and the weight made it hard to carry. I do a wide variety of photography. But when I am out on nature hikes I don't want to lug my bag along so if I needed extra lens or whatever I could not take them with me. So I searched for 2 months on a new camera backpack. I came across this one in my search, read all the reviews and fell in love with it before I even bought it. This was a anniversary gift from my husband and have to say it was well worth the purchase.

This bag comes in many colors and Amazon even offers a few of them with a new monopod. I could of used a new monopod since mine is very much out dated but was not worth it since I did not really like the accent colors. I liked the Pink and White one but it would show dirt, scuff marks so I went with solid black. I wish they offered one just like the picture since its a little more grey but that is nothing to complain about.

When I read the reviews everybody said there was tons of room specially in the top department and man where they right. I can see that section getting full of almost anything I want to just throw into the bag and go. The bottom part was nice, I like the thick padding and I wont have to worry to much about my camera being at the bottom of the bag. I like how its designed to have easy access. With a little time and patience I should be able to move the inserts around and make it more comfortable for me. Most of the time I take the lens off and put the camera body only in the bag in its own slot. But the purpose of having this bag was to have it where I can sit the camera in or take it out of the bag with a lens already on.

KATA has a wide variety of bags. If you use mostly telephoto like the 70-200mm L then you might consider the larger bags which is a step up from this one. You could still use this one. The top compartment would hold it perfectly fine by its self or in its case that comes with it. My Sigma comes with a carry case that I had sit in my old bag and I would put my lens in it every time I was done. Where as if I needed the extra room I could go back to that way still with this bag as well.

I did see the water holder that everybody complained about. I can see why it would not hold the top part of the netting is tight so if you had a small bottle it would have to be squeezed in. But like most its not a big issue. You won't regret purchasing this bag. And I found a new brand that I will stay with for a long time.

Summary: HOLY CRAP

Comment: This is a great bag (for the money)!! I researched a lot of bags at B&H that would hold two SLR bodies and a 17" laptop. Turns out there are few that will hold the latter. Most that hold two SLR bodies and a smaller laptop are 3-4 times the cost of this product.

The pack is well built, and I have NO complaints. HOWEVER, there are a few things that potential buyers should be made aware of.

1. My gear didn't really fit. Here is the list:
-D70 Body
-D300 Body (w/grip)
-SB-800 Flash
-50mm
-70-300mm
-18-55mm
I think the engineers intended for one body to go in the actual PACK on top. This is fine, because it's well padded, but I wanted to use that area for other things.

2. Not a lot of pockets for memory cards, etc. There is an ipod pouch (and a handy hole at the top for earphones), three pen holders, and a large pocket(that holds my field guide). I really liked my Tamrac system that had individual pockets for my CF cards. Now there are in the zippered pocket on the back, and they feel safe. I would just liked having them in their own pockets.

3. It rides a little low on the back. I'm 6'2" and I like to have most of the weight on the top of my shoulders and this is more towards the back. It took some adjusting to get it configured at the optimal comfort level.

Now, with all of that said, here's the skinny. There's ABSOLUTELY NO WAY you can find a bag that beats the value of this bag.

-It's built better than most bags
-Heavily padded (camera area, and back pad for comfort)
-Lots of pockets
-Spacious top bag (lots more than my Tamrac Adventure 7)
-Stow away cup holders (I like this so you don't stag those little mesh things)
-VERY convenient trolley strap
-Holds 17" laptop (Can't find another one that does this).
-With some thought it fits ALL of my gear. I have a mobile office on my back and that's NICE!!

Sorry for the long review, but I wish someone would've taken the time to tell what all I did.

Summary: Great Bag...Great Price!

Comment: I needed a backpack type bag for a trip I just took to Kenya. This bag allowed me to pack my MacBook, Canon XTi, lenses and assorted accessories and gave me room for a few personal items for the flights to and from. The camera compartment is easily accessible and protected my gear wonderfully. I didn't feel like I was fumbling around for stuff while I was in country. It made the trip a lot easier. For hobbyist's this is an outstanding backpack. Pros with large lenses will need something bigger.

Summary: great bags to carry camera and laptop

Comment: Pros:
For sure this bag worth much more than the price. The quality is very good among similar products.

Cons:
The curve is a bit flat and does not fit to the shape of one's back very comfortably. Will be perfect if, more side pockets, pocket on should belts, and bigger upper room.

If you don't need to carry a laptop constantly. I suggest the new kata 3in1 sling/backpack model, it's almost perfect!

Summary: Overall very good

Comment: I purchased this backpack to hold my Nikon D90. It is perfect for my D90 + 18-105 VR lens. There are a lot of more spaces to hold more lens and accessories. The notebook holder is huge which is able to put in a 17'' laptop. I like it very much because I do not need to bring one more bag when I am traveling.

Only thing you need to worry about is the room for bigger lens. I never try a big lens like Nikkor 70-200 f2.8 in this bag and am not sure if the room is enough.

Overall it is a very good camera case for traveling and hiking.

Editorial reviews:

The DR-467 Digital Rucksack features a unique TST RIB structural protection for two D/SLR with mounted lens, 3-4 lenses, flash etc. + personal gear and a laptop. By removing the padded bottom camera insert you can easily convert this rucksack from a camera bag to a daypack when not shooting. The main compartment holds a D/SLR in top grip position while the modular dividers system will separate, organize and protect lenses, flashes and other accessories to suit your particular needs. The dedicated padded laptop compartment will hold and protect up to a 15" laptop. The large top compartment will hold personal gear or additional equipment, and the internal pockets and mp3 player pouch will allow you to organize your personal effects as efficiently as your photographic gear. Ample external pockets allow quick zippered access to supplies and a water bottle/ tripod support pocket pulls out from a side pocket. Included rain cover folds neatly away into an integrated pocket and can be hung out to dry on the small buckle next to the handle, or tucked away for storage in one of the pockets. When carrying, a chest belt and balancing waist strap are available for ultimate comfort, and the rucksack is also compatible with the Kata Insertrolley if wheel along transportation is needed.
