Summary: Does not include camera, case only with book and filters

Comment: Okay so I'm ignorant about cameras. I probably should have done some research and then I would have known that there was no way you could buy a Nikon camera with a nice case for $49.99 but if you click on the photo above you will see different views of the camera. Also if you read the product description and the tech data you would think you were getting a camera. So today my order arrived. It was a nice Nikon case, with a user's guide, and a round plastic container of filters. I talked to a Onecall customer rep and he confirmed that the SLR value kit does not contain a camera. So for any of you newbies out there who think you might want to buy this "camera" think again. I will say if you want a nice pricey camera case, this one looks pretty good. But it's going back to OneCall tomorrow. I am giving it 5 stars because it is a nice case and it's not OneCall's fault that it is misrepresented here.

Summary: N75 is Body Only in Black

Comment: The N75 is a great new camera from Nikon which is really a small step down from the N80 in features and performance. The small body size is similar to the N55 and is easy to handle with well placed controls and dials. The build quality is typical Nikon and quite solid. There are subtle extras, such as depth of field preview, that seem to be omitted from most SLRs these days. And the metal lens attachment is a nice upgrade from the plastic versions on my previous "entry level" cameras from Canon and Nikon.

I like the way the camera balances in my hand with all controls easily reached with the camera up to your eye. My only complaint - the model listed here is actually incorrectly listed - the unit I received is a black body with Quartz dateback, without lens, battery or strap. The description provided by Amazon is misleading and should be corrected. It also seems to be overpriced versus the kit version which they also sell via J&R. Go for the kit version as the 28-80 zoom is pretty decent and well made. I have not seen a big difference yet between the N55 metering and the new 25 segment 3-D matrix offered by the N75. If you like to take pictures, and want a variety of auto exposure modes + manual, this is a good choice. I did not penalize Nikon or the N75 for the misrepresentation made by Amazon on this item hence the 5 stars. I highly recommend the N75, just make sure you select the kit unless you want the black body only QD version at a high price.

Editorial reviews:

Designed for budding photographers who want to advance their creative potential, the Nikon N75 autofocus SLR camera integrates sophisticated new advanced technology with Nikon's intuitive design. The N75 offers an extensive set of new and intelligent features, including an easy-to-access three-mode focus area selector switch, an all-new 25-segment matrix metering system, 12 custom functions, and three cleverly engineered Dynamic Autofocus modes that ensure crisp, sharp pictures.

A large mode dial and easy-to-view LCD panel ensure easy access to exposure modes, including Auto and five Vari-Program modes, for point-and-shoot operation with professional results. A built-in Speedlight automatically pops up and fires flash when light is low or the subject is in backlighting.

The N75 also features creative exposure control functions like Auto Exposure Bracketing, Exposure Compensation, Multiple Exposure and more. In addition, New On-Screen Battery/Film Indicators in the viewfinder show battery power and film supply status.

The N75's five AF sensors cover a wide area, both horizontally and vertically, and it offers three modes to control the focus area selection, including closest subject priority and center subject priority. The camera allows for easier framing by placing the Focus Area Selector switch conveniently next to the right-hand thumb so that, even while taking pictures, you can adjust focus area selection.

In addition to measuring the brightness and contrast of a particular scene, Nikon's exclusive 25-segment 3D matrix meter also analyzes complex exposure and lighting conditions, comparing it with an on-board database of picture-taking information that is built upon more than 30,000 actual scenes stored in the camera.
